Fan Photos

In the five years that I have been selling scarves on Etsy I have never had a happy customer (or an angry customer for that matter) post a picture in the feedback section. In fact comments on my feedback page were so rare, I used to never check it. Recently it seems that spot has been gaining in popularity. In fact, just two weeks ago I had someone actually post an appreciation photo. I was so excited. I shamelessly begged to be allowed to put it on my FB page. So of course I had to start a new album for it.
I have had friends, and relatives, take pictures in my creations before. And I have posted them on the FB before, but until now it has never dawned on me to put them in an album. Please do not ask me why. I guess as the years go on, and I grow up, I continually do things that make more sense. I wonder, if it had not been for Mari from Finland, how long it would have taken me to do this. So, thank you Mari, and sorry to everyone that preceded Mari whose photos will remain floating down the river that is the "Wall Photos" album.
If anyone else is interested, my Etsy feedback and email inbox are always open for customer appreciation photos and comments. I'll take as many as I can get. It's not always easy to remain positive about your work when it is a materialization of your creativity. I think it is part of the human instinct to be self loathing. It never ceases to amaze me how nervous I get about posting new items in the Etsy shop, bringing items to a retailer, or showing at a bazaar. Every smile I get, and compliment I get, go a long way. These gifts for outshine any negativity I've ever received, and they are (totally) why I still do what I do. I have so much fun making scarves and sharing them with other people.

Swarovski Scarf

Introducing my latest style...

Swarovski says...Add sparkle to your everyday life.

So I thought some scarves with crystal buttons were, well, overdue.

I am constantly scouring the globe in search of accessories that have never been introduced in the Florida Scarf product line. Most recently I have come across these beautiful buttons at the Swarovski showroom in Austria.
Prior to my holiday in Austria, I wasn't much of a Swarovski girl. One trip to Kristallwelten, one sip of the kool aid, and I was hooked. The crystals are gorgeous, the history is impressive, and the future is innovative. I think these new buttons make the scarves look amazing. They have never sparkled like this before.
If you are interested, here is a tidbit of the Swarovski history:
In 1892, Daniel Swarovski invented a machine to cut crystal more precisely than ever before. Three years later his company was born in Tyrol, Austria. In 1956, with the help of Christian Dior, Swarovski developed it's "Aurora Borealis" finish. It made the cut crystal sparkle. In 1976, the figurines were born. In 1987, the Swarovski Crystal Society was formed. Today it has over 325,000 members. In 1993, Crystal Mesh is developed, all the cool designers start using it. (Yes, I think I am clever.) In 1995, the Kristallwelten opened in Wattens, Austria. This is where I was fortunate enough to travel, a couple of weeks ago. (Perhaps you read about it in the Germany Journal) I was one of over nine million that have toured the premises. Now, in 2012, if you google Swarovski images you will be shown some pretty ridiculously bedecked items. I'm just saying'.

P.S. These scarves will be available on Etsy.

Placemats and Scarves

The holidays are still upon us. Mine are still as crazy as ever. (in a good way) I hope yours are too. It's been about a week since my last post. I'm glad to be checking in.
This is a shot of the last thing I have created.

Can you believe it? This was on 11/27, that's almost a month. I haven't painted, sewn, drawn, or anything. Cooking has been my only creative outlet, and I've only done that once or twice. Moving is hard work. I can't wait to be settled back in a place I can call my own.

Anyway, these are some placemats I made for my grandma. Each placemat is a different composition of the same fabrics. I just gave them to her yesterday. They look great around the table, and it's fun to choose who-gets-what.

Being back home is pretty fun. I've been checking out my old artwork that I left here. If you guys are lucky I'll post some archives in the near future. It makes me long to paint again, so much. It'll be a couple of months before that happens though. I'll have to start focusing on photography maybe.

Here's a few shots of some scarves I've been carrying with me. I never had enough time to get them on the Etsy Shop. There are about 30 pieces that happened with. Oh well. There is always the next Bazaar. It'll be in Germany!

Enjoy your New Year. I'll be in touch soon.

Oh and I found this other scarf on Etsy that deserves some attention:
